Pune: Two held for carrying pistols; 4 firearms, 7 cartridges seized
Pune: Two persons carrying pistols illegally have been arrested. Four pistols and seven cartridges worth Rs 1.03 lakh have been seized from their possession.
The Anti-Extortion Squad 2 of the Crime Branch conducted the operation on Canal Road in the Vadgaon Khurd area.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sanket Shivaji Gandle (21), a resident of Nanded Phata, and Mangesh Raju Bhosale (21), a resident of Sinhagad Road Phata. A case has been registered against them under the Arms Act at the Sinhagad Road Police Station.
Police officers and personnel of the Anti-Extortion Squad-2 were patrolling in the area. Policemen Surendra Jagdale and Pavan Bhosale got a tip-off that two persons standing on Canal Road leading to Prayeja City in Vadgaon Khurd were carrying firearms. Accordingly, the police laid a trap, detained the duo and seized four pistols and seven cartridges worth Rs 1.03 lakh.
The action was taken under the guidance of DCP Amol Zende and ACP Satish Govekar. A team comprising PI Pratap Mankar, PSI Shrikant Chavan, Mohandas Jadhav, police personnel Surendra Jagdale, Dilip Gore, Ajinath Yede, Pavan Bhosale, Sangram Shingare, Vijay Gurav, Saidoba Bhojrao, Ganesh Kharat, Chetan Apte, Rahul Uttarkar, Chetan Shirolkar and Chetan Chavan participated in the operation.
