Pune: Yet another hit-and-run case: Young CA killed in Swargate area

Pune: Hit-and-run incidents are growing in the city. A young CA was killed in yet another accident on Tuesday (July 9) morning in the Swargate area at the subway in Jedhe Chowk.

The victim has been identified as Sagar Suresh Mantri (34), a resident of Hadapsar. His cousin Satish Bhansali (27), a resident of Kasba Peth, lodged a complaint at the Swargate Police Station. An unidentified vehicle driver has been booked under sections 281, 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 184, 199/177, 134(a) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

According to the police, they rushed to the spot after learning about the accident. The victim was seriously injured at the spot. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the Deccan Gymkhana area; however, the doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has been sent for a post-mortem to the Sassoon Hospital.

The deceased was a CA by profession. His office is located in Bhavani Peth. He was heading towards his office as usual. He received a serious head injury and suffered bleeding. His two-wheeler’s rear part was damaged badly. The police suspect that the unidentified vehicle hit his vehicle from behind.
