Pune: Three of a family arrested for killing a goon in Yerwada

Pune: Three persons have been arrested for hacking a history sheeter to death with sickles due to an old enmity. The incident took place in the small hours of Wednesday (July 17) near Hotel Jaica at Golf Chowk.

The deceased has been identified as Sudhir Chandrakant alias Balu Gavas (23), a resident of Yerwada. The arrested accused included Pravin Ramchandra Acharya (44), Swapnil Pravin Acharya (28) and Ravi Ramchandra Acharya (35), all residents of Yerwada. A case has been registered against them under sections 103, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Gauri Dharmendra Shinde (35), a resident of Yerwada, lodged a complaint at the Yerwada Police Station.

According to the police, Gavas had a dispute with the Acharyas. Gavas is a criminal on police record. He was released from jail recently. He fought with the Acharyas over the old dispute. The Acharyas started chasing him with weapons. They saw him at around 2.30 am hiding near Hotel Jaica. They attacked him with sickles. He died on the spot due to serious injuries.

The Yerwada Police rushed to the spot after being alerted. The police detained the accused and booked and arrested them for the murder. API Vishal Takle is investigating further.
