Pune: Sharad Pawar explains reason behind Supriya Sule’s victory from Baramati
Pune: NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar was asked a question about the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency victory. When asked: ‘It is said that Ajit Pawar implemented development projects in Baramati. Then why did voters choose Supriya Sule?’, he answered sarcastically, “Arre ti Baramati ahe (After all, they are Baramatikars).”
The sisters-in-law (Supriya Sule and Sunetra Pawar) fought against each other in Baramati. The entire country was eager to know its outcome. It was the first contest after a vertical split in the NCP. The uncle-nephew duo were at loggerheads in the election. Sule won by over one lakh votes.
Sharad Pawar said, “One should have personal relations with people in Baramati. Earlier, I knew almost 50 pc of Baramatikars by their names. However, many old generation members are no more. But I was sure that people would choose Supriya. Ajit Pawar is a family member. However, my workers will decide whether to take him back to the party.”
