Moderate rain predicted in Pune, red alert issued in parts of State

Pune: The met office has predicted moderate rain in the city and district on Thursday and Friday. Rainfall, along with thunderstorms, has been forecasted in Konkan, south-central Maharashtra, Marathwada and north-central Maharashtra on Thursday (July 18) and Friday (July 19).

However, a red alert has been issued in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Satara districts.

Excessive or heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of the State. An orange alert was issued in Nanded, Hingoli and Parbhani districts on Thursday. A precautionary alert has been issued in Ahmednagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded districts on Friday.

Mainly, Thane, Palghar and Sindhudurg districts have been alerted on Friday while a red alert has been issued in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Satara districts on Thursday and Friday.

Various parts of the State have been receiving moderate to heavy rain for the past 5-6 days. Good rainfall was also reported in Ghat sections. Dams across Maharashtra are getting filled steadily. Farmers have been relieved in Marathwada and Vidarbha. Light rains have been reported in the western areas of Pune district while the eastern parts have still not got rain.
