Pune: We will not insist on seats, giving a stable government is our priority: Sharad Pawar
Pune: NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar has said that the main aim of his party and that of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is to give a stable government.
“The MVA constituents will sit together and decide about the seat-sharing. My party will not insist on any particular seat. Our priority is to provide a stable government,” he said.
He commented on many issues while speaking to the media.
NCP (AP) Junnar MLA Atul Benke met Sharad Pawar at Shirur MP Dr Amol Kolhe’s residence. Speculations are rife that Benke may switch over to the NCP (SP).
When Sharad Pawar was asked about this, he said, “Who is this Atul Benke? Is he so important that a party president should answer such question? You should be clear about what is important and whom to ask such questions.”
‘People have expectations from us’
It is said that Union Minister Amit Shah will tour the State. Commenting on this, Pawar said, “People of Maharashtra have cut them to size. Five years ago, the Congress had one MP while the NCP had four. This time, voters have elected 31 out of 48 MPs. People’s mandate has changed. They have expectations from us.”
Commenting on the Maratha quota issue, he said, “Nobody has contacted us after Chhagan Bhujbal’s visit. I had sought details about the promises made to Jarange Patil. I do not know what transpired between them.”
