Pune: Three workers electrocuted to death while shifting food stall
Pune: Three young workers died due to electrocution while shifting an anda-bhurji stall due to flooding under the Z-Bridge in the Deccan Gymkhana area in the small hours on Thursday.
The victims have been identified as Abhishek Ajay Ghanekar (25), Akash Vinayak Mane (21), both residents of Deccan Gymkhana, and Shiva Jidbahadur Parihar (18), a Nepali worker.
The highest rainfall in the decade was recorded in the city on Wednesday. The Khadakwasla Dam has been filled to the capacity. Due to heavy rain in the catchment areas of dams, water was continuously released into the river. Water started flowing over Baba Bhide Bridge on Wednesday evening.
The chowpatty under the bridge was flooded. Three workers at the chowpatty were trying to shift the anda-bhurji stall at around 3 am on Thursday when they were electrocuted. They were immediately rushed to Sahyadri Hospital; however, the doctors declared them dead on arrival. The Deccan Gymkhana Police are investigating further.
