Heavy Rain in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri: Heavy rain has been continuing in the Maval, Mulshi areas along with Pimpri Chinchwad over the last 24 hours. This has led to a rise in the water levels of the Pavana and Mula rivers. Schools have been closed due to the heavy rains. In the Chinchwad Keshavnagar area, water has overflowed. Lonavala recorded the highest rainfall of 370 mm, while Chinchwad recorded 175 mm. Lavasa received the most rain, and Baramati the least.

Heavy rain has been ongoing in the Pimpri-Chinchwad and Maval, Mulshi areas for the last three days. The rainfall increased throughout Wednesday and has continued into Thursday morning, disrupting daily life. Government and private schools in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area have been closed. The water levels of the Pavana and Mula rivers have risen. Floodwater has entered the premises of Potdar School in Keshavnagar, Chinchwad. Additionally, some parts of the muddy Gharkul area have been inundated. The water level of the Indrayani river has also risen due to continuous rain.

Inconvenience to Workers

Incessant rain has caused significant inconvenience to workers commuting for the first shift in the morning and those returning from the last shift. The area in front of Gharkul Building No. C 33 society has become particularly serious, with a large reservoir forming on the road.

Citizens on Alert

Heavy rainfall in the Mulshi Dam area has filled the dam to 70% capacity as of this morning. A discharge of 2500 cusecs will be released from the dam spillway at 2 pm. If the rain continues or increases, the discharge will be adjusted accordingly. Residents are advised not to enter the riverbed and to move any materials or animals out of the area immediately. Basavaraj Munnoli, an officer at Tata Power Dam, has urged citizens in low-lying areas to take proper precautions and remain vigilant.
