Pune: Body of youth washed away in Ambil Odha from Katraj found in riverbed
Pune: A youth was washed away in the flooded Ambil Odha near Lake Town on Thursday evening. The Fire Brigade found his body in the riverbed on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Akshay Sandesh Salunkhe (26), a resident of Upper Indira Nagar. He was fishing in the floodwater when the incident took place. The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police and Fire Brigade jawans were searching for him for the past two days. They checked various chambers along the channel. The search continued throughout the night. Finally, his body was found at a place between Sangam Bridge and Kumbharwada. The body was handed over to the police for a post-mortem.
Fire Brigade jawans from Katraj, Gangadham, Janata Vasahat, Kasba fire centres were searching for the missing youth. Fire officers Sunil Naiknavare, Pradeep Khedekar, Subhash Jadhav, Tandel Bharati, Bharat Wadkar, firemen Tejas Mandavkar, Aniket Pawar, Gavhali, Yerphule, Avinash Jadhav, Pratik Shirke, Rohit Jadhav and 15 others took part in the search operation.
