Pune: Cop demands Rs 2 lakh bribe to file case against builder, nabbed accepting Rs 1.70 lakh

Pune: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a policeman attached with the Dighi Police Station while demanding a Rs 2-lakh bribe and accepting Rs 1.70 lakh to book a builder.

The accused cop has been identified as Amol Dashrath Jadhav (43). A 42-year-old citizen lodged a complaint with the ACB.

According to the details, the complainant had bought a flat from the builder at Chovisawadi in Charholi. However, the builder sold the flat to some other person by keeping the complainant in the dark. The complainant lodged a criminal complaint against the builder at the Dighi Police Station. Policeman Amol Jadhav demanded Rs 2 lakh to take action on the basis of the complaint against the builder.

The complainant then approached the ACB. The complaint was verified on July 16 and 18. During this, Jadhav agreed to accept Rs 1.70 lakh after a compromise. He was nabbed red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant at Wadmukhwadi on Alandi-Vishrantwadi Road on Thursday afternoon. A case was registered at the Dighi Police Station.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of SP Amol Tambe and Addl SP Dr Sheetal Janve. PI Shreeram Shinde is investigating the matter.
