Pune: Last month, two doctors from the Sassoon Hospital were suspended from the service after it was revealed that they left the abandoned patient at the deserted place. After this incident, the administration of the hospital faced much criticism. However, considering the increased workload on hospital workers, the hospital has now appealed to people not to admit abandoned patients to the Sassoon Hospital.

While speaking on it, doctors of the hospital said that Sassoon is the tertiary care hospital. Here, we are expected to do complex treatments on patients and to teach medical students. However, people are unnecessarily increasing the burden on the hospital by admitting abandoned patients.

Further, it was also revealed that instead of having good facilities in the other hospitals, patients with minor injuries are also brought to the Sassoon Hospital, which in turn increases the load on medical staff.

However, on this, the hospital has urged people not to bring such patients to the Sassoon hospital, which can be treated at other hospitals as well. Doctors further said, “In the Sassoon hospital, there are only 2 nurses and 2 helpers available for nearly 60 to 70 patients. This number is too short, considering the huge number of patient cases.

Further, there are so many patients admitted to the hospital who need extensive care. The hospital staff needs to take care of every little thing about these patients. Therefore, the Sassoon administration has warned people to seek the benefits of other government hospitals, such as the district hospital, sub-district hospital, and village hospital, before admitting the patient to the Sassoon.
