Opposition demands my resignation after Badlapur but keeps mum on Kolkata rape case: Fadnavis
Kolhapur: A special investigation team (SIT) has been set up to inquire into the sexual abuse of two minor girls at a school in Badlapur. However, opposition parties are targeting the State Government over the issue of women’s safety and have demanded that State Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis should step down.
Fadnavis has reacted to the criticism. He said, “We have decided to deal with such culprits sternly. They would get the harshest punishment. We will ensure that they are hanged. We will not sit quietly till they are punished. We will not tolerate crime against women under any circumstances.”
Fadnavis was speaking at a felicitation function held for beneficiaries under the Ladki Bahin Yojana at Tapovan Maidan here on Thursday (August 22).
He said, “A victim, whoever she may be, belongs to us. A young doctor was sexually assaulted and killed in Kolkata. But MVA leaders kept mum over the incident. They praised Mamata Banerjee. They did not even condemn the rape in Kolkata. But they are demanding resignation in Maharashtra.”
He said, “We will not sit quietly. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has taught us to fight till the end. We will not run away. We will fight. We will not give up till culprits in such cases are punished. We will finish them off. I have come here to tell this to the opposition. They politicise the issue because they are insensitive.”
