Pune: Alankar Police Nab Serial Thief Targeting Women on Morning Walks; Recover Loot Worth Rs 1.95 Lakh

Pune: In a significant action, the Alankar police apprehended a habitual thief responsible for snatching mangalsutras from women during their morning walks. The arrested individual has been identified as Akshay Ganpati Todkar, a 23-year-old resident of Dattawadi, originally hailing from Karambali, Taluka Gadhinglaj, District Kolhapur.

The theft incident occurred on the morning of August 26, when Akshay Todkar snatched a mangalsutra from a woman out for her morning walk. During the investigation, police identified a suspect riding a Splendor motorcycle through CCTV footage.

As the search for the suspect continued, police spotted Todkar on D.P. Road. Upon seeing the police officers, he attempted to flee, but the police quickly apprehended him. Todkar confessed to the crime, and the police recovered a mangalsutra, a gold chain, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle, with a combined value of Rs 1.95 lakh from him.

This action was taken by the team of Police Sub-Inspector Abhijit Kale, Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Nimbalkar, Police Ammaldar Pawar, Yadav, Sapkal, Kumbhar, Rathod, Shinde, and Shivadkar, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ajay Parmar, and Senior Police Inspector Sunita Rokde.
