Pune: Crime Branch Unit 5 Arrests Chain Snatcher from Sasane Nagar; Unveil 5 Crimes Done by Him

Pune: In a commendable act, the team of Crime Branch Unit 5 has apprehended a thief from Sasane Nagar who was publicly snatching jewellery from women’s necks. Subsequently, the crime branch police also brought five crime cases done by him to light.

The detained accused has been identified as Jitu Barisahab Rajput (age 27, a resident of Wajewadi, Taluka Shirur). In this case, the Police Inspector of Crime Branch Unit 5, Yuvraj Hande, received a tip-off, suggesting that notorious on-record criminal, Jitu Rajput, was coming to Sasane Nagar to sell the gold jewellery.

Accordingly, police set up a trap and detained Rajput from Pandhare Mala. After the arrest, Rajput confessed that he came there to sell the gold jewellery stolen by him along with his accomplice from Phursungi, B. T Kawade Road, and Dewachi Uruli areas by snatching chains from women’s necks. In the subsequent investigation, police seized a total of goods worth 3 lakh 95 thousand, including jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh 85 thousand and a motorcycle used in the crime.

Police also brought five crimes done by him and his friend, Aniruddha Nanawat, to light. This action was taken by the team of Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande, Assistant Police Inspector Krishna Babar, Police Ammaldar Rajas Shaikh, Pramod Tilekar, Pratap Gaikwad, Vinod Nibhore, Vinod Shivle, Tanaji Deshmukh, Sachin Memane, Shahaji Kale, Swati Gawde, Pallavi More, Shubhangi Mhalshekar, Prithviraj Pandule, Shashikant Nale, Akbar Sheikh, Amit Kamble, Rahul Dhamdhere, and Umakant Swamy.

Further, the guidance of senior officials such as Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Govekar also proved useful in this action.
