Pune: Vanraj Andekar’s last Instagram post (Video)
Pune: The Pune Police have arrested four persons in the former Corporator and NCP (AP) leader Vanraj Andekar’s murder case. The police suspect that the murder was a result of a family dispute. The victim’s father lodged a complaint, following which the victim’s two sisters and their husbands have been booked.

The footage of the incident has been found, in which a gang of 10-12 people is seen attacking Vanraj. Four of them have been arrested. The murder took place on Sunday night. Earlier, Vanraj worshipped Mahadev on the fourth Monday of the traditional Shravan month. He also participated in the Dahi-Handi celebrations. He posted photos of the two festivals on his Instagram handle, which proved to be his last posts.
Footage of the attack
The police have found the footage of the incident. It shows 12 gang members riding on six two-wheelers approaching towards Vanraj Andekar. They are wielding weapons and launch a murderous assault on Andekar, who was alone at the spot. The assailants first fire at him and then hack him with a sickle.
Street lights in the chowk were switched off before the attack. Seriously injured Andekar was rushed to the KEM Hospital but died during treatment.
Four suspects arrested
The Pune Police acted swiftly and arrested four suspects. According to the police, the attack was a fallout of a family dispute. According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, two sisters and their husbands are the suspects.
The arrested accused have been identified as Jayant Komkar, Ganesh Komkar, Sanjivani Komkar and Kalyani Komkar.
The Crime Branch starts investigation
The Pune Police Crime Branch is investigating the high-profile murder. Preliminary investigation found that the assailants tried to cut power supply and tried to switch off street lights of the area, where the incident took place. The footage shows that some people threw something at the assailants but it did not hit them. A person escaped on a scooter, along with two others.
The police are investigating further. They have strengthened security in the area following the murder.
