Pimpri: 26 congestion points identified, Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey gives details; measures to ease snarls started
Pimpri: Residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad have been facing traffic jams for the past many days. Commissioner of Police (CP) Vinoy Kumar Choubey held a ‘Virtual Town Hall’ to interact with citizens. Most of the questions asked by them related to traffic congestion.
CP Vinoy Kumar Choubey said, “The Traffic Police, the PCMC, the PWD and the NHAI have jointly identified 26 traffic congestion points. Measures have been taken to ease snarls at these places. Encroachments have been removed from Talegaon Chowk and Alandi Phata in Chakan and nine other places. Hinjawadi, Wipro Circle and Radha Chowk are being reviewed. Road-widening and traffic monitoring measures are being taken.”

Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey also gave details about the ‘One Day for School’ initiative, which was started in December 2023. An appeal was made to install CCTVs on school premises and to make character verification of their staff mandatory. Schools have been told to install the complaint boxes and form the Students Security Committee in every school.
Citizens demanded that a session should be held for students over the POCSO guidelines. Police officers and personnel are available to educate and train school children. Schools can contact this mobile number for such a session: 9529691966, said the CP.
