Garima Silent Candle March in Pune

Pune: The Garima Candle March was held on Thursday (September 5) jointly by the Rotaract Club of Pune and the District Legal Services Authority, Pune to spread awareness about women’s security and confidentiality.

All women judicial officials, on the directions of Hon’ble Principal District Judge and the President of District Legal Services Authority Pune, lawyers, artists, students, members of various Rotaract Clubs and people from all walks of life participated in the March.

Pune District and Sessions Court Judge SB Rathod (Special Court POCSO), District Legal Services Authority, Pune, Secretary Sonal S Patil and Marathi Actor Prasad Surve and other dignitaries were present.

Pune District and Sessions Court Judge SB Rathod said, “I am happy to have participated in such a programme for the first time as a judge. We, judges, always strive to impart quick and right justice. However, we need to inculcate the ‘zero tolerance’ thought in our society. I am sure this thought will spread through this march.”

Programme coordinator Adv Satyajit Karale Patil said, “This candle march is not a mere condemnation. All should carry home the message to develop one’s thoughts. There are many perverted people around us. However, if you want to bring a change in society, it is important to start with oneself, change one’s mindset.”

Rotaract Club of Pune President Ajit Chowdhary, Secretary Sanjana Walunj, Director Prathmesh Borude, Akansha Thorat, Sharvari Konde, Afroz Jahagirdar, Shivani Waghmare and other members organised the programme properly.
