Thane Cyber Crime Police Arrest Two for Obscene Posts Targeting NCP Leader Rupali Chakankar

Pune: In a significant crackdown, the Cyber Crime Department of Thane Police has arrested two individuals for posting obscene content about NCP leader Ajit Pawar faction and Maharashtra State Women’s Commission president Rupali Chakankar. The arrests came after Chakankar had earlier provided a list of 32 people who made derogatory remarks about her on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.

The two arrested suspects have been identified as Sunny Parkhe, detained from Gangapur, and Jagannath Hate, apprehended from Chunabhatti, Mumbai. The police have charged them under the section 72/2024, section 354 d, 509, and 34 as well as other relevant laws.

This is not the first instance of action taken in such cases. The Pune Cyber Police had previously registered a case against individuals circulating obscene content about Chakankar. During the investigation, the main accused, Vasant Rameshrao Khule, was traced to Rahati, Parbhani, where he was arrested and brought to the cyber police station. His statement was recorded, and his mobile phone was seized as evidence.

In addition, another accused, Pradeep Kanse, was also issued a notice for using inappropriate language against Chakankar on social media.
