Pune: Metro registers historic revenue on immersion procession day
Pune: Pune Metro set a historic record on Anant Chaturdashi, the concluding day of the Ganpati Festival. Lakhs of devotees travelled by Pune Metro to avoid traffic issues so that they could witness the immersion procession. On Tuesday (September 17) alone, 3.5 lakh passengers travelled by Metro and a new record was set. They preferred convenient and speedy travel.
The highest travellers on Aqua line
As many as 3,46,633 passengers used Pune Metro’s Purple and Aqua lines. The highest number of passengers (2,53,790) used the Aqua line. A majority of passengers preferred to head towards Laxmi Road, Shaniwarwada and Deccan Gymkhana.
Metro’s one day’s earnings: Rs 55 lakh
The Metro administration made special plans for the immersion procession day. Additional work force was deployed and frequency was increased. As a result, it earned Rs 54,92,412 on Tuesday.
Devotees flocked to Pune from across the State
Lakhs of devotees arrived in Pune from across the State to witness the immersion procession. Hectic activity of the procession started in the morning. Many citizens did not venture out during the day due to rising temperatures. However, they enthusiastically participated in the procession after the evening. They preferred Metro as many roads in the heart of the city were closed. Since the Metro routes pass through the city, it was a convenient mode of transport. Therefore, citizens from across the State made the maximum use of Metro.
