Pune: Key Middleman Arrested in Vanraj Andekar Murder Case, Acted as Link Between Accused
Pune : In a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the Vanraj Andekar murder case, the police have arrested a middleman who played an important role in keeping the other accused in touch with each other, including Ganesh Komkar and Soma alias Somnath Gaikwad.
The arrested accused has been identified as Prasad Pandurang Belhekar (age 33, a resident of Nana Peth). The police have so far arrested 22 people in this case.
Police informed that Prasad Belhekar was earlier attacked by Rishabh Andekar of the Andekar Gang. Therefore, Belhekar was angry at him. Police further informed that Ganesh Komkar and Prasad Belhekar were acquainted with each other. Therefore, to take revenge for the attack on him, Belhekar decided to work as an intermediary between the Komkar family and Soma Gaikwad, Tushar Kadam, Sameer Kale, and Aniket Dudhbhate.
Prasad Belhekar was arrested by police on September 19, and the court granted him police custody till September 24 for further investigation.
This action was taken by the team of Senior Police Inspector Shabbir Sayyad, Assistant Police Inspector Abhijit Patil, Police Ammaldar Shubham Desai, and Rajendra Landge under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balkawade, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle.
