Pune: Police Nab Notorious Criminal for Demanding Extortion from Builder with Country-Made Pistol
Pune: In a significant action, the police have arrested a recidivist accused for demanding extortion money from the construction businessman while waiting at Nana Nani Park with a pistol in his hand.
The arrested accused has been identified as Ambaji Kalyani Shinge (age 24, a resident of New MHADA colony, Sasane Nagar, Hadapsar). Ambaji Shinge is a notorious criminal and has multiple cases registered against him at various police stations in the city.
Earlier, a case was registered against Shinge at Shivaji Nagar Police Station in connection with possession of weapons. Further, the Mundhwa police arrested him for demanding an extortion of the 35 lakh rupees from the real estate developer by threatening him with a pistol. After being released on bail in that crime, Ambaji Shinge and his accomplice also stopped another builder on the road and demanded extortion from him. In that case, he was arrested by Wanwadi Police.
In the latest case, Police Ammaldar Shrikrushna Sangve has lodged a complaint against Shinge at Shivaji Nagar police station.
Police informed that on the night of September 22, Police Ammaldar Shrikrushna Sangve, Assistant Police Inspector Pandhare, Constable Chavan, Pawar, and Police Ammaldar Jadhav were patrolling in the area. At that time, Police Inspector Jadhav received a tip-off from his informant that an on-record criminal, Ambaji Shinge, was standing at the toilet near Nana Nani Park, carrying a country-made pistol in his hand.
Accordingly, police reached there to verify the authenticity of this news. Seeing the accused with a pistol in his hand there, the police swiftly set up a trap and detained the accused. When he was frisked by the police officers following his detention, they found a country-made pistol and a live cartridge in his possession.
Accordingly, the police have arrested him, and Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Pandhare is investigating further into the case.
