Pune: Yerawada Police Booked One Man Over Casteist Invective to Woman
Pune: The Yerawada police have registered a police case against an individual after a woman has alleged that she was being abused over her caste by the man while asking for the money the accused had given to her on an interest. In this regard, the police have booked the accused under the Atrocity Act along with the sections of the Illegal Moneylending Act.
The name of the person who was booked in this case is Ravindra Rajendra Rajguru, and he is a resident of Navi Khadki. The police have taken action after the 37-year-old woman from Lohegaon filed a complaint at Yerawada Police Station in this regard.
This incident took place in Yerawada between March 2020 and September 2024.
The police informed that the accused and the plaintiff are acquainted with each other. In March 2020, the accused had lent a sum of money, including interest, to the plaintiff, which now amounts to Rs 62 lakh. The plaintiff complained that the concerned individual was constantly harassing her over the repayment of the money.
In the latest incident, the accused assaulted the plaintiff with hands and belt and also abused her by making derogatory comments about her caste. Further, the accused also molested her by moving his hand over her back.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Pranjali Sonawane, is investigating in detail the incident.
