Pune: Anti-Narcotics Cell Seizes Opium Worth Rs 56.90 Lakh in Ambegaon; One Arrested

In a significant action, the anti-narcotics cell has seized opium worth Rs 56 lakh 90 thousand from Ambegaon in a drive to eradicate the narcotics from the city.
In this regard, police have arrested Devilal Shankarlal Ahir (age 42, a resident of Katraj).
As per the police information, the anti-narcotics cell was patrolling in the premises of Bharti Vidyapeeth police station. At that time, Police Ammaldar Yogesh Mandhare got information that a young man carrying opium was stopped in Ambegaon.
Accordingly, the police team went to the spot and detained Devilal Ahir from the public road in Ambegaon. In a subsequent action, police seized 2 kg and 845 grams of opium worth Rs 56 lakh 90 thousand from his Activa car. Police further confiscated his mobile phone and a two-wheeler, along with opium.
This action has been taken by the team of Police Inspector of Anti-Narcotics Cell Sudharshan Gaikwad, Assistant Police Inspector Nitinkumar Naik, Police Sub Inspector Digambar Chavan, Police Ammaldar Yogesh Mandhare, Chetan Gaikwad, Prashant Bomadandi, Sandeep Jadhav, Uday Rakshe, Disha Khewalkar, Sandeep Shelke, Nitin Jagdale, Yuvraj Kamble, and Dinesh Bastewad.
In this action, the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Mulik also proved useful.
