Seven new police stations approved for Pune, to start operating within a week
Pune: The State Home Department has approved seven new police stations in the city considering expanding city limits, growing population and law and order. Rs 60 crore has been sanctioned for the purpose.
As many as 816 police personnel have been provided to run the new police stations. The seven new police stations will start operating within a week, said Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar on Monday.
The new police stations will be located in Ambegaon, Nanded City, Baner, Kharadi, Wagholi, Kalepadal and Fursungi. They have received the administrative approval. The places of new police stations have also been decided. The police administration has urgently provided all necessary aspects to these police stations on priority. In the backdrop of rising crimes, the city’s expansion and rising population, the new police stations have been approved. This will also reduce workload on the existing police stations, said CP Kumar.
Operations to begin in Navaratri celebrations
Work will be divided due to the new police stations. It will also help maintain law and order. Priority will be given to citizens’ security. The new police stations will start operating before Dasara. The demand for the new police stations was followed up for the past 3-4 years. A new building will be built for the Bund Garden Police Station, for which Rs 25 crore has been allocated.
The new police stations and funds sanctioned for each one:
Kharadi PS: Rs 7.50 crore, Fursungi PS: Rs 8.81 crore, Nanded City: Rs 8.60 crore, Wagholi PS: Rs 8.75 crore, Baner PS: Rs 8.60 crore, Ambegaon PS: Rs 7.09 crore, Kalepadal PS: Rs 10.24 crore.
3,000 new CCTV cameras in the city
As many as 2,886 CCTV cameras will be installed across the city, for which a Rs 433 crore fund has been sanctioned. CP Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Addl CP Arvind Chawariya, ACP Vivek Pawar followed up for the CCTV cameras.
