Bharat Rashtra Samithi State unit merges with NCP (SP)
Pune: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s (BRS) Maharashtra unit has been merged with the NCP (SP). BRS State incharge former MP Haribhau Rathod announced this in the presence of party President Sharad Pawar on Sunday (October 6).
The merger took place in a programme at the NCP (SP) office near Market Yard in the city. NCP (SP) City Unit President Prashant Jagtap, Haribhau Rathod and many BRS office-bearers were present. Pawar welcomed all.
Rathod and all office-bearers were told that they will be treated with respect in the party. BRS President and then Telangana CM Chandrashekhar Rao had launched the party in Maharashtra to take it at the national level ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
He staged a show of strength by bringing a cavalcade of 100 cars to Pandharpur. However, after the BRS defeat in Telangana State Assembly polls, the party was on a shaky wicket in Maharashtra. The then BRS State President Manik Kadam has already joined the NCP (AP). Other leaders from some other districts have already quit the BRS and joined some other party.
