Pune: Anti-Bribery Sting! Mandal Officer and Accomplice Arrested for Seeking Rs 10,000 Bribe in Land Record Case from Ambegaon
Pune :
In a significant action, the anti-bribery department red-handedly caught a mandal officer along with a private person who demanded a bribe of 10,000 rupees from the person to reject the Ferfar Utara document (a legal record that documents changes to a plot of land’s original record).
In this action, police arrested the mandal officer Shridhar Bhagchand Achari (age 52, a resident of Ghodegaon, Taluka Ambegaon) and the private person Nishant Tukaram Lohkare (age 37, a resident of Ghodegaon, Taluka Ambegaon).
As per the preliminary information, the plaintiff filed an application on March 7, 2024, in the Girawali Talathi office regarding disapproval of the Ferfar Utara and objecting to its approval. The application was heard by Mandal Adhikari Shridhar Achari. When the complainant met Achari, Achari asked him to meet Nishant Lohkare in connection with the case.
Accordingly, when the plaintiff met the complainant, Nishant Lohkare, he told him to pay as Shridhar Achari asked. After that, Achari demanded a bribe of Rs. 10 thousand to the plaintiff to disapprove the Ferfar Utara.
After that, the complainant lodged a complaint with the Anti-Bribery Department. While verifying this complaint, Shridhar Achari showed his readiness to accept a bribe of Rs. 5 thousand after compromise. Accordingly, a trap was laid in the Mandal Officer’s office at Ghodegaon, and Shridhar Achari was caught while accepting Rs 5 thousand from the complainant. Police also arrested Nishant Lohkare for encouraging bribery in this case.
This action has been taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Sheetal Janve. Police Inspector Rupesh Jadhav is investigating further in this case.
