Three gas cylinders will be given for free to each woman under Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana, earlier directive changed
Pune: The State Government announced in the Annual Budget that it would give three cooking gas cylinders for free in one year to women in the State under the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana. The condition was that the gas connection should be registered in the name of the woman concerned. However, the directive has been changed now.
All beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin Yojana will get three gas cylinders for free. If the gas connection is registered in a male family member’s name, then it has to be registered in the beneficiary woman’s name.
The State Government not only declared the Ladki Bahin Yojana but also the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana. Three cylinders each would be given for free for one year.
However, the condition was that the woman concerned should have had the gas connection registered in her name. Though this would benefit common women, it was feared that many women may be deprived of it. Therefore, the change in rules has been announced.
A majority of households in the State have gas connections registered in the name of men. This put a spoke in getting gas cylinder subsidy under the Annapurna Yojana though many women were qualified. The State Government decided to change its earlier order.
Now, all beneficiaries under the Ladki Bahin Yojana will get three cylinders for free after transferring the gas connection registered in men’s names to their names. Crores of women will benefit under the scheme.
