Pune Police Reactivate Informant Network After Struggling to Trace Bopdev Ghat Gang Rape Accused for Five Days

Five days have passed and still the police administration is unable to trace the accused in the Bopdev Ghat gang rape case. Therefore, in the latest attempt, the police have decided to take the help of informants in this case.

Earlier, the police also used the technology of artificial intelligence (AI). Hence, taking into consideration the limitations of technical investigation, the police have now decided to reactivate the informant’s network. For this, a meeting of investigating officers was held at the Pune Police Commissionerate on Monday.

So far, the police have collected the information of three thousand mobile users who have travelled from Bopdev Ghat in the last 15 days. Accordingly, the police have started technical analysis of the information about mobile users, their names, and addresses of such persons.

Further, the police have also collected CCTV footage from 70 to 80 km around Bopdev Ghat, suspecting that the accused had gone towards Saswad after the incident. In this case, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, informed that the investigation of more than two hundred recidivists has been started by the police. For this, police have collected the information of recidivists accused from Pune, Solapur, and Satara districts.

Yesterday, the police announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for the person who will provide the information about the accused. Further, police also assured to keep the identity of the informant confidential. Sharma also informed that the information collected to trace the accused is being analysed on the basis of AI technology. Further, the police have also seized blood samples, bamboo, and other materials from the scene and sent them to the forensic laboratory for examination.

The help of Police Patil of various villages in Saswad, Jejuri, Phaltan, Baramati, Solapur, and Satara districts will be taken in the investigation. Police Patil and Sarpanch of villages have good public relations. Therefore, the police officials informed that their help would be taken in the investigation.
