Illegal Medical Practice Exposed in Pune: Warje Police Take Action Against Fake Doctor

A shocking incidence is coming to light from Pune city, where fraudulent doctors are running illegal treatment centres without valid medical degrees. In one of its incidents, Warje police crack down on such a fraudulent doctor from Warje by registering a case against him.

The fake doctor against whom the complaint was filed by Warje police has been identified as Bibhuti Vimal Bagchi (age 43), and he is a resident of Gokul Nagar, Warje. This action has been taken by the Warje police on the complaint of the Medical Officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation, Dr. Aruna Tarade. In this regard, a case has been registered against Bagchi under the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act and fraud.

As per the police information, Bagchi had started a haemorrhoids treatment centre at Anand Hospital premises in Warje area. He had started an illegal treatment centre without having a certified medical degree and a business permit. In this regard, a complaint was filed against Bagchi after receiving information about this from the health department of the Pune municipal corporation.

Accordingly, a case has been registered against Bagchi. However, he has not been arrested yet. Police constable Bhingardive is investigating further into the case.

Shockingly, many such incidents had taken place earlier in the city. In one of the cases, police arrested Prakash Ranganath Torane, who started a clinic called Janaseva Clinic in the Loni Kalbhor area and treated patients without having a medical degree, in the month of July. A police investigation revealed that Torane was earlier working as a compounder in a hospital before starting his own clinic, and he had been treating patients for the past five years without a medical degree.

Further in the second incident, Mehmood Farooq Sheikh, a fake doctor who treated patients using a fake name and medical degree, was arrested at Koregaon in Shirur taluka of Pune district. Police informed that Sheikh was running the hospital under a fake name of Mahesh Patil. Sheikh completed his education up to 10th standard, and after that, he had started working as a compounder in a private hospital in Nanded.

In another such incident, Mundhwa police arrested P. Ramkrishna Reddy (age 66). Police informed that he was an assistant in the surgery department. After his retirement, he had set up a clinic in the Mundhwa area with a certificate from an association from Uttar Pradesh.
