Pimpri: Youth detained for stealing, selling imported pistol, 80 cartridges from Army Workshop
Pimpri: A minor stole an imported pistol and 80 cartridges from the Army 512 Base Workshop Colony in a house break-in theft. He handed over the stolen valuables to a friend, who was arrested while selling them by the anti-property theft squad of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police.
The arrested accused has been identified as Chetan Raju Wankhede (19), a resident of Khadki Bazar. According to the police, the anti-property theft squad of the Crime Branch was patrolling in the Dapodi area when policemen Sumit Deokar, Ganesh Sawant and Harshad Kadam got a tip-off that a person was to arrive on the bank of the Pavana river in Dapodi to sell arms.
The police laid a trap and arrested Wankhede. He was possessing an imported pistol and 80 live cartridges. When enquired, he told the police about his minor accomplice’s involvement in the theft. He told them that his accomplice handed over the arms for selling.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of ACP Dr Vishal Hire by the anti-property theft squad comprising Sr PI Vijay Dhamal, PI Bharat Gosavi, police personnel Ashish Bankar, Ganesh Sawant, Sumit Deokar, Harshad Kadam and Somnath More.
