Pune: Standing Committee approves Rs 88 crore for a road each in Mohammadwadi and Handewadi
Pune: A DP road each will be built in Mohammadwadi and Handewadi in lieu of Development Credit Note. The Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) approved a proposal in this regard on Thursday (October 10). The estimated cost for constructing the roads will be Rs 88.83 crore.
The PMC has decided to develop DP roads and bridges in the city on a PPP (public-private-partnership) basis, for which Development Credit Notes will be given to developers. A 24-m DP road will be built at survey number 15 part 8 in Mohammadwadi and another 24-m RP road between survey numbers 20, 22, 26 in Undri and survey numbers 1, 2, 6 in Handewadi will be constructed.
Since many areas in the city are facing traffic issues, which have taken serious proportions. In this backdrop, widening of DP roads in the city has been taken up on priority. Since the civic body is facing funds crunch, these roads have been neglected. Therefore, the Development Credit Note option has been chosen to develop DP roads and bridges in the city.
Thus, seven DP roads and two flyovers will be built on a PPP basis. A 24-m DP road in Mohammadwadi and a 24-m RP road from Undri to Handewadi will be developed. This work will help smoothen traffic flow in these areas. This has been claimed by the civic administration. A proposal to develop these two roads was tabled in the Standing Committee meeting chaired by Municipal Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale, which was approved.
