Sharad Pawar to use trump card in Parli to defeat Dhananjay Munde
Beed: NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar is preparing to field a very strong candidate against State Minister Dhananjay Munde. He was one of the prominent leaders of the NCP to support DyCM Ajit Pawar, who separated from the senior politician and joined the ruling Maha Yuti.
Sharad Pawar is searching for a candidate in the backdrop of the Maratha quota agitation. The late NK Deshmukh was an influential local politician. His nephew Abhijit Deshmukh is active in politics. It was learnt that Sharad Pawar is persuading Abhijit Deshmukh to contest the State poll.
Sharad Pawar directly asked him if he was interested in contesting from the Parli Assembly seat. This has been claimed by Abhijit Deshmukh. He has also been interviewed by the party as a potential candidate. Deshmukh also held discussions with MLA Rohit Pawar. He is known as a close aide of Ajit Pawar. He is related to the late Vilasrao Deshmukh’s family.
Dhananjay Munde defeated Pankaja Munde by 30,000 votes in the Assembly elections 2019. Parli was supposed to be the late BJP leader Gopinath Munde’s fortress. His daughter Pankaja Munde retained it after his death. But Dhananjay Munde breached it and became a minister in the MVA government.
Ajit Pawar rebelled and was supported by Dhananjay Munde. Both became ministers again. Munde is the State Agriculture Minister. Sharad Pawar wants to give him a run for his money in the State poll.
