Pune: Triangular contest in Parvati, Aba Bagul to contest as independent
Pune: The level of discontent in the two major alliances was high due to a large number of aspirants, which was a result of three-party tie-ups on both sides. Many of them filed nominations as independents after the party denied them tickets or their segment was given to an alliance partner.
Some parties succeeded in bringing rebels back to their fold but others failed to do so. The Maha Yuti successfully tackled the issue in all eight segments in Pune.
But the highest number of rebels are from the Congress in Pune. They are contesting from the Kasba Peth, Shivajinagar and Parvati seats as independents.
Maha Yuti-BJP’s Madhuri Misal is contesting from the Parvati segment for the fourth time. NCP (SP) candidate Ashwini Kadam has been fielded by the MVA. But Congress leader Aba Bagul was also an aspirant from Parvati. He is in the fray as an independent.
The last day of withdrawing the nominations was Monday (November 4). But Bagul did not withdraw. Hence, the Parvati segment will have a three-cornered fight.
