Pune: On the final day of taking back the election form, the rebel candidate of the Shiv Sena (UBT faction) from Bhosari, Ravi Landge, took his nomination back. This has been a great relief to the Mahavikas Aghadi coalition in the Bhosari. Now, after Ravi Landge withdraws from the election, the Bhosari assembly constituency would see the direct contest between the BJP’s Mahesh Landge and the NCP (SP) party’s Ajit Gavhane.

After the NCP (SP) party gave a party ticket to Ajit Gavhane from Bhosari, Ravi Landge of the Shiv Sena (UBT) rebelled and filed the independent nomination form. However, after the senior leaders of the party talked to Landge, he stepped back from the election, taking his nomination paper back on the last day of withdrawing nomination papers. Therefore, the contest in Bhosari has become clear, and primarily it will be between the NCP (SP) party’s Ajit Gavhane and the BJP’s Mahesh Landge.

Ajit Gavhane will have the challenge of two-time MLA Mahesh Landge in this constituency. This time, Landge would try to do a hat-trick by consecutively winning the election three times, whereas Gavhane would look to end the streak of Landge.

In this constituency, a total 24 applications were submitted. However, out of these, 6 applications got dismissed, whereas 18 applications remained valid. Further, seven candidates withdrew from the election, leaving the total number of candidates to 11.

Apart from Mahesh Landge and Ajit Gavhane, there are nine candidates in the fray from Bhosari. The names of those candidates are as follows:

Balraj Katke (Bahujan Samaj Party), Amjad Mahebub Khan (All India Majlis-e-Inqilab-e-Millat), Javed Shah (Swarajya Shakti Sena), Arun Pawar (Independent), Khudbuddin Hoble (Independent), Govind Chunchune (Independent), Harish Dolas (Independent), Rafiq Qureshi (Independent), Shalaka Kondawar (Independent)

Further, a total of seven candidates, including Parameshwar Burle (Rashtriya Samaj Party), Rama Thoke (Bahujan Republican Socialist Party), Suraj Gaikwad (Independent), Dattatray Jagtap (Independent), Subhash Waghmare (Independent), Ravi Landge (Independent), and Santosh Landge (Independent), took their nominations back from the election.
