Pune: Katraj Chowk flyover work halted, traffic woes galore
Pune: Traffic congestion is unprecedented at Katraj Chowk. The flyover work is halted as there is no alternative route for traffic diversion. In this backdrop, a question is being asked as to when the work would be completed.
The flyover is being built to solve traffic issues at Katraj Chowk. The flyover work is facing numerous hurdles. Thus, it has been delayed. The deadline was over in February last. It was extended till December.
The girder-laying work has reached the middle of the chowk. Traffic diversion is necessary for completion of the work. Since there is no alternative route, diverting traffic has become difficult. Initially, traffic diversion was implemented but it did not succeed. The Traffic Police and the NHAI are planning for the same. It seems that the flyover work would not be completed within a month.
Land acquisition needed
Delayed land acquisition is stalling the project. The much-talked about Gugale plot at Katraj Chowk was acquired one-and-half years ago. But its possession has not been taken by the PMC. This is a major impediment. The plot is important for girder-laying work and diverting traffic, failing which the work will not progress.
