Now, leaders beeline to meet Ajit Pawar after NCP (AP) win
Pune: The Maha Yuti, comprising the BJP, the Shiv Sena (BT) and the NCP (AP), had got a landslide win in the recent State Assembly elections. The NCP (AP) led by Ajit Pawar won 41 seats by fighting back a tough challenge posed by the NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar. The latter could win only 10 seats.
After his party’s resounding success in the State polls following a crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar’s confidence has gone up. Workers’ confidence in him has also grown. It appears that an exodus from the rival camp may soon start toward the NCP (AP).
Leaders from the NCP (SP) and from other parties in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are poised to switch sides. Rahul Jagtap, who rebelled against the party candidate from the Shrigonda Assembly constituency in Ahilyanagar district, recently met Ajit Pawar. It is said that he would join the NCP (AP) after the swearing-in ceremony of new ministers.
Ajit Pawar is preparing to deal a blow to the Shiv Sena (UBT) too. Former MLA Apurva Hire from the Shiv Sena (UBT) also met Ajit Pawar. It is claimed that he would soon join the NCP (AP).
The NCP (SP) won 8 out of 10 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and proved its complete dominance. But the success in the State Assembly elections underlined that Ajit Pawar has support of the masses. Moreover, Ajit Pawar will have a major share in power. Therefore, his importance is likely to grow further.
