Pune: Land measurement in 3 months now in Maharashtra
Pune: The State Land Records Department has effected changes to the land survey process, under which the time limit for land measurement has been reduced from six months (180 days) to three months (90 days). This has provided relief for citizens and realtors.
However, the State Government has increased the fees recovered for the purpose. Doing away with the earlier land measurement types, there will now be only two types of land measurement: Regular and urgent.
In rural areas, the charges for regular land measurement have been doubled, which will be Rs 2,000 for two hectares. Rs 1,000 will have to be paid for every additional hectare. For urgent measurement, Rs 8,000 will be charged for two hectares while every additional two-hectare measurement will cost Rs 4,000.
In urban areas, land measurement will now cost Rs 3,000 for a hectare i.e. 100 gunthas. Earlier, it was Rs 1,000.
Rates hike after 14 years
The State Land Records Department clarified that though the rates have been increased, the time limit for land measurement has been reduced. The new rates came into effect from December 1.
Earlier, the types of measurement were categorised as regular, urgent, very urgent and extremely urgent. Therefore, manpower was getting divided at four places. Consequently, the time limit was fixed at 180 days (six months).
Now, there will be only two categories of measurement: Regular and urgent. Thus, manpower will be divided at two places. Thus, the time limit has been reduced. Officials will have to complete land measurement within the deadline. If it is not done within the stipulated time, action will be taken against officials concerned under the Right to Service Act, 2011.
