Pune:

While campaigning in the assembly election, two unknown assailants attacked Chandrakant Tingre of the NCP (SP) party. Now, in this case, a shocking fact has come to light. After police have detained the two accused behind the attack, it is revealed that the attack on Chandrakant Tingre stemmed from the fact that he joined the NCP (SP) party before the election.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Revan Tanaji Lagas (age 20, a resident of Gokul Nagar, Katraj) and Pranajit Achyut Shinde (age 24, a resident of Handewadi). In this case, Chandrakant Tingre’s wife, Rekha Tingre, had lodged a complaint at Vishrantwadi Police Station.

The former corporator, Rekha Tingre, and her husband, Chandrakant Tingre, had switched to the Nationalist Congress Party from the BJP. After the campaign for the assembly elections began, they joined the NCP Sharad Pawar’s group and declared their support for the NCP (SP) candidate Bapusaheb Pathare.

However, when Chandrakant Tingre and his car driver had gone to the Mahavitaran office in Dhanori on November 19, few unknown assailants pelted stones at their car, in which Chandrakant Tingre got seriously injured. After that, Rekha Tingre had accused that her husband was fatally attacked by assailants at the behest of Mahayuti candidate and then Vadgaon Sheri MLA Sunil Tingre.

In this regard, Senior Police Inspector Kanchan Jadhav said that the two accused who attacked Chandrakant Tingre have been arrested, and it is learnt that they attacked Tingre out of the anger of Tingre’s party defection.
