Pune: Road-building plan of merged villages to be prepared; Standing Committee extends approval
Pune: The road-building plan of the 32 merged villages has not been finalised. Therefore, the roads will be marked under the Regional Plan (RP). A proposal in this regard was approved by the Standing Committee on Friday (December 13). The work will cost Rs 41 lakh.
The State Government merged 11 villages in 2017 and 23 others in 2021 with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Two among them – Uruli Devachi and Fursungi – have been dropped for an independent civic body for them. Thus, there are 32 villages within the PMC limits.
The Development Plan (DP) of Uruli Devachi and Fursungi has not been finalised. Therefore, the PMC is merely repairing existing roads and filling potholes in them.
The civic body does not have details about the proposed roads, existing roads and proposed widening of roads under the RP. Therefore, new roads cannot be built. Therefore, the roads will be marked as per the RP.
Thus, the civic administration will come to know the prevailing condition of roads in the merged villages. Once the roads are marked, villagers will be aware about encroachments on them. This will also help citizens to clearly know the roads while doing land deals, division of plots and other such work.
