Pune: Violent Scuffle Between Inmates in Yerawada Jail, Complaint Against Two

From a minor dispute, the incident of assaulting an inmate has taken place in Yerawada jail. In this regard, the Yerawada police have registered a case against two prisoners.
The injured prisoner in this case has been identified as Sudhir Gautam Thorat. A case has been registered against prisoners Vicky, alias Vivek Rajesh Kharade, and Ali Adam Sheikh in this case. Prison guard Vishwas Wakade (age 43) has filed a complaint in this regard at the Yerawada police station.
According to the police, at around 3:30 p.m. on December 14, Vicky Kharade and Ali Sheikh stopped prisoner Sudhir Thorat in the barracks of Yerawada jail. There, they had a minor argument after Kharade and Sheikh asked Thorat when he would be released from the jail. However, as the argument escalated between them, Kharade and Sheikh assaulted Thorat with hands and legs. In this attack, Thorat suffered injuries to his ribs and nose.
Upon receiving information about the fight in the prison, prison guards rushed to the spot. Thorat was then admitted to the hospital and given first aid.
Further, Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke of Yerawada Police Station, Crime Branch Inspector Pallavi Meher, and Swati Khedkar visited the jail. Assistant Police Inspector Vishal Takle is investigating further in this case.
As per the police report, there have been multiple incidents of fights between prisoners that took place in Yerawada Jail in the past. Therefore, the jail administration has installed CCTV cameras in the jail premises as a security measure to keep watch on prisoners.
