Pune: School director Anvit Phatak held in sexual abuse of students case
Pune: The director of a renowned school in Karve Nagar has been arrested in the sexual abuse of two students by a dance teacher.
The arrested accused has been identified as Anvit Sudhir Phatak. The dance teacher sexually assaulted the pupils by showing them porn video clips. He recorded the heinous act and threatened the students that he would send it to others if they revealed it to anyone. He also made them swear and threatened to kill them. The incident took place from November to December 14.
DCP Sambhaji Kadam said, “The police acted swiftly and arrested the dance teacher yesterday. School director Anvit Phatak has been arrested for his negligence in the matter.”
Meanwhile, it has come to light that more students were sexually assaulted by the teacher. Parents demanded that it should also be investigated.
A delegation of parents met Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar. The school administration’s negligence is responsible for this. Therefore, director Anvit Phatak and the trustees are equally responsible. Action should be taken against them too, said the parents.
The parents told CP Kumar, “The good touch, bad touch counselling is not done in the school. Parents-teachers’ meetings are also not held regularly. Teachers’ character certificates are not checked. The school administration is not serious about these matters. Such incidents are a result of these factors.”
