Pune: Swargate Police nab goon involved in murderous assault while escaping to Solapur

Pune: A youth sought an explanation why his friend was beaten up by a group. However, the gang assaulted him with koytas and tried to kill him. A history-sheeter involved in the attack tried to escape to Solapur when the Swargate Police caught him.

Samarth Rakesh Salunkhe (18) lodged a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station in this regard. An attempt to murder case has been registered against Sonya Kamble, Amol Adam, Amol Madankar, Ganesh Dodmani, Chikka and two unidentified persons.

The incident took place at 7.30 pm on Tuesday (December 17) at Sai Nagar in Katraj. According to the police, the accused beat up the complainant and his friend Ishant Kokate. The duo sought an explanation why they were beaten up when Kamble asked them that they could not ask him such a question and gesticulated at his accomplices. Armed with koytas, they arrived there.

Kamble hit Kokate with a koyta. As Kokate collapsed, the complainant and his friends started running away. Salukhe slipped while running. Goons attacked and seriously injured him. The police registered an attempt to murder offence and were searching for the accused.

Policemen attached with the Swargate Police Station Kundan Shinde and Rahul Tambe got a tip-off that an accused in the attempt to murder case at Sachchiyay Mata Mandir was about to escape to Solapur. The police set a trap at the Swargate bus stand. They nabbed Amol Ravi Adam (24), resident of Katraj, who was trying to escape to Solapur.

Adam is a hardened criminal and very serious offences such as kidnapping, attempt to murder, robbery and serious injury have been registered against him at the Bharati Vidyapeeth, Yerwada, Vishrantwadi, Kondhwa police stations. He was recently released after preventive detention.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Addl CP Pravin Kumar Patil, DCP Smartana Patil, ACP Deepak Nikam. A police team comprising Sr PI Yuvaraj Nandre, API Rahul Kolambikar, Asst PSI Sanjay Bhapkar, police personnel Kundan Shinde, Shankar Sampate, Sagar Kekan, Rahul Tambe, Shridhar Patil, Sudhir Ingle, Satish Kumbhar, Vikram Sawant, Rafiq Nadaf and Sharad Gore participated in the operation.
