Pune: Inducing to invest in steel business, builder duped of Rs 26 crore

Pune: A developer was cheated of Rs 26 crore by inducing him to invest in steel and other metals business.

The developer, resident of the Ganeshkhind Road area, lodged a complaint at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station. Karan Dilip Bothra, resident of Salisbury Park, has been booked.

The incident took place at the office of Purple Construction between April 2023 and December 17, 2024. According to the police, the complainant runs Purple Construction Pvt Ltd. He got to know Bothra through business. Bothra told the complainant that he would get big profit by investing in stell and other metal business. He induced the complainant to invest from time to time. He signed a declaration-cum-undertaking document that the investment and profit would be paid by cheque.

However, no money was paid to the complainant. Thus, it was a breach of trust and financial cheating of the complainant. API Waghmare was investigating the case.
