Pune: Female Trainee Pilot Chesta Bishnoi Saves Six Lives Through Organ Donation After Dying in Car Accident

On December 9, a car carrying students, who were taking pilot training, met with a horrific accident in Baramati. In this accident, two student pilots died on the spot while two of them were severely injured. In this, a 21-year-old female trainee pilot, Chesta Bishnoi, died at a private hospital in the city on Wednesday, December 18, after struggling to death for nine days.
However, even after her death, she had saved the lives of six people. Aarti Gokhale, coordinator of the Pune Divisional Transplant Coordination Committee, informed that after Chesta’s death, her family members decided to donate her organs. As a result, Chesta saved six lives even after her death.
The deceased female trainee pilot, Chesta Bishnoi, was an original resident of Khetolai village of Jaisalmer Pokhran, Rajasthan, and she was training to become a pilot in an academy in Baramati. On December 9, she, along with her three friends, met with an accident after their car struck a water pipeline in Baramati.
After the accident, Chesta was immediately admitted to the hospital. However, on December 18, doctors declared her brain dead. After that, her family members decided to donate her other functional organs. Accordingly, her five organs and a liver were donated. Three of these organs were donated to Ruby Hall Clinic, while two organs were donated to D.Y. Patil Hospital and were successfully transplanted. The doctors also said that the health of the transplanted patients is stable.
Dr. Prasad Muglikar, Medical Director of Ruby Hall Clinic, said, “A 21-year-old pilot trainee from Jaipur, Rajasthan, was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. Despite all efforts by the medical team, her condition deteriorated and she passed away on December 18. Due to the decision of her family, five of her organs were transplanted, and 6 lives were saved. (The liver was divided and transplanted into two individuals.) The organs were distributed as per the rules and supervision of the Pune Divisional Transplant Coordination Committee. Her heart, liver, kidney, and pancreas have been successfully transplanted.”
