State Legislature passes resolution to rename Pune airport after Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj
Pune: The State Legislature passed the resolution to name the Pune airport after Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj. Pune MP and Minister of State for Civic Aviation Murlidhar Mohol continuously followed up the renaming of the airport.
Minister Mohol posted this on his X handle. The post states: ‘Successful follow-up. One more step to name the Pune International Airport. The resolution to rename the airport as ‘Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj International Airport, Pune’ has been passed in the Maharashtra State Legislature. My heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Devendraji Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajitdada Pawar and Deputy Chief Minister Eknathji Shinde Saheb!’
The resolution was unanimously passed in the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday (December 19). Currently, the facility is known as the Lohegaon airport. The resolution will be forwarded to the Civil Aviation Ministry for further action.
The resolution pays respect to the Honourable Sant and poet from the 17th century. Jagadguru Sant Tukaram is known for his devotion towards Bhagwan Vitthal and his contribution to the Bhakti movement. His teachings and verses continue to inspire lakhs of people. The journey affirms the faith in the cultural and spiritual tradition.
