Pimpri: Police officials on night patrol to share location with control room every two hours
Pimpri: QR codes have been set up at various places to confirm that beat marshals are on patrol. However, it is not mandatory for police officials on night patrol to scan QR codes to confirm their location.
Some officials take advantage of the concession. Therefore, the control room will now seek the location of police officials on night patrol every two hours.
Earlier, the police used to conduct night patrol by hitting the cane on the ground and shouting ‘Jagte raho’! A register was kept at various places such as hospitals, temples and bus stops, which the police had to sign during night patrol.
Some police officials used avoid the responsibility due to some lacunae in the system. Now, they will not be able to avoid patrol as the new QR code system has been implemented. An effective implementation of the system is being observed within the limits of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
Therefore, police officials will have to conduct night patrol on predetermined routes. The control room will now take updates of their patrol.
There are three DCP zones within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. Every zone has one police inspector. Moreover, each police station has PSIs, APIs on night duty. They have been instructed to conduct night patrol in a particular area. However, some officials used to convey different locations through wireless communication without leaving their office. Now, beat marshals will not be able to do that.
Four updates
Police officials do not conduct night patrol. They visit a spot in the case of a major incident. The Commissioner of Police found a solution to this. Police officials on night patrol will have to share their locations at 11 pm, 1 am, 3 am and 4.45 am with the control room. Thus, they will have to follow their night patrol daily.
Explanation will be sought from police officials who do not reply to the control room call or do not share their location. A report will be sent to the Police Commissioner if the explanation is not satisfactory.
