Pune reels under cold weather; 8.9 degrees Celsius recorded in Shivajinagar
Pune: A cold wave has been sweeping the district, including the city, for the past 10 days. Shivering cold was experienced in the western parts such as NDA, Kothrud, Shivajinagar, Pashan, Aundh, Warje, Katraj and Haveli.
The lowest minimum temperature of 7.5 degrees Celsius was reported in the NDA area on Thursday. In Shivajinagar, a minimum temperature of 8.9 degrees Celsius was recorded.
Pune became colder than Mahabaleshwar, the hill station. Shivering cold was experienced in the early morning hours. Citizens got respite from cold due to the sunlight.
Meanwhile, the met office predicted cloudy weather in Pune on Friday (December 20).
Cold weather conditions intensified in the past couple of days. A low-pressure area (LPA) has formed in the sea in Andaman due to cold winds flowing from the North. This has resulted in a cold wave in Pune and across the State.
Temperatures dipped at many places, including Vidarbha and Marathwada, in the State. Mumbai recorded a minimum temperature below 20 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature was reported in Vidarbha.

A minimum temperature of 7.5 was recorded at NDA in the district on Thursday. Minimum temperatures (in degrees Celsius) in some other places was as follows: Malin – 8, Shirur – 8.3, Talegaon – 8.5, Shivajinagar – 8.9, Pashan – 9.1, Daund – 9.3, Narayangaon – 10 and Baramati – 10.1.
Rajgurunagar – 11.2, Lavasa – 11.4, Indapur – 12, Lonavala – 12.7, Girivan – 13.3, Koregaon Park – 13.8 and Magarpatta – 15.1.
