Respite from biting cold likely; sky may be partly cloudy

Pune: Weather conditions are becoming conducive for rains. The IMD has predicted partly cloudy sky. Minimum temperatures would be fluctuating in the State.

The lowest minimum temperature in the State (9 degrees Celsius) was recorded at the Agriculture College in Dhule on Sunday (December 22).

A distinct low-pressure area (LPA) has been formed in the east-central Bay of Bengal. It is likely to shift in the direction of north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast. Cold weather conditions changed in the northern states. The lowest minimum temperature (5.6 degrees Celsius) in the northern plains was reported in Ludhiana in Punjab.

The cold wave in Maharashtra started receding as the chilly wind from the North became weaker. Minimum temperatures reported from across Maharashtra, except Dhule, crossed the double-digit figure of 10 deg C. Foggy and misty mornings were reported at many places in the State. The highest minimum temperature in the 24 hours lasted up to Sunday morning was reported in Solapur at 33.3 deg C.

Sky was partly cloudy in some areas of the State. Weather conditions are likely to become conducive for rainfall by month-end. Minimum temperatures across the State may fluctuate, said the IMD.
