Pune:
With increasing urbanisation and infrastructure development, the traffic issue is worsening day by day in the Pune city. Citizens are frustrated by the daily traffic jams in various parts of the city, with long queues of vehicles forming on the roads. Therefore, the Deputy Chief Minister of the State, Ajit Pawar, took a meeting in this regard with the officers of the Pune Municipal Corporation and instructed them to take measures to solve the traffic issue.
Today, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was on an official visit to Pune. At this time, he held a meeting with the officials of PMC. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P., and other important officials were present in this meeting.
In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed his displeasure over the continuous traffic jams on many roads in the city. There are potholes on many roads. Road works are being done by the Municipal Corporation in phases. Due to this, various traffic problems arise. Therefore, instead of working in phases, Pawar advised the officials to complete the road work in a single stretch.
Pawar instructed officials to complete the roadworks immediately to solve the constant traffic congestion on the city roads and improve the condition of the roads. He also asked them to prepare a ‘Comprehensive Mobility Plan’ with the help of all the agencies and to keep more provision for roads in the upcoming budget of the Municipal Corporation.
To find a solution to the traffic congestion on the roads, Ajit Pawar advised PMC officials to hold a joint meeting of PMC, PCMC, Maha Metro, PMPMM, PMRDA, Metro, and Traffic Police for the traffic problem of the city and to prepare a comprehensive and dynamic plan in this regard.
In this meeting, the Municipal Corporation presented its stand regarding getting its share of GST according to the population and regarding the suspension of tax collection in the included villages. On this, Pawar said that a meeting regarding it will be held with the Urban Development Department next month to resolve this issue.
