Two Individuals Died After Speeding Mahindra SUV Car Struck Two-Wheeler in Viman Nagar Area

Two individuals have died in a horrific accident involving a two-wheeler and a four-wheeler car near the Viman Nagar area. This incident took place on Thursday, January 2, around 9 a.m. on the Yerawada-Airport road.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Ashirwad Nagesh Govekar (age 52, a resident of Mapusa, Goa) and Reshma Ramesh Govekar (age 66, a resident of Bhairav Nagar, Pune), and they are brother-in-law and sister-in-law of each other.

Assistant Police Inspector Saiba Pote of the Viman Nagar Police Station informed that Reshma Govekar was taken to the Air Force’s ECH Hospital on Thursday, January 2, after her health deteriorated. After treatment, Ashirwad Govekar and his sister-in-law, Reshma Govekar, were going towards their house.

However, while turning right towards 509 Chowk on the main road from Yerawada to the airport, a bus and other vehicles heading towards Yerawada had stopped there. Meanwhile, a Mahindra SUV car, which was speeding towards 509 chowk, overtook the stopped bus and other vehicles and hit Govekar’s bike head-on. The accident was so horrific that Ashirwad Govekar died on the spot, while Reshma Govekar was seriously injured.

After the accident, Reshma Govekar was immediately admitted into the nearby ECH Hospital, and after completing primary treatment there, she was taken to the Command Hospital for further treatment. However, Reshma Govekar died while undergoing treatment there.

Late at night, the daughter of the deceased, Reshma Govekar, filed a complaint at the Vimantal police station. The police are investigating the incident further.
